Wander off the beaten track and discover the Treasures Along I-20 trail starting in Conyers just East of Atlanta. Founded in 1854, along the main railroad route from Augusta to Atlanta and visited by Civil War General William T. Sherman on his “March to the Sea” in 1864, Olde Town Conyers, today is a vibrant Main Street community. Enjoy unique shopping, delightful eateries, or a leisurely stroll through the Lewis Vaughn Botanical Garden. Attend a performance at the Pavilion, a production at Center Street Arts, or immerse yourself in the historic district’s annual festivals and special events. More than horses, the Georgia International Horse Park is a world-class, multipurpose facility and hosts a year-round calendar of events including the annual Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival each March. There are fifteen miles of horse trails and eight miles of mountain bike trails winding through the 1400-acres park and also includes Big Haynes Creek Nature Center, Memorial Arboretum, and Cherokee Run Golf Club. Minutes North of the Horse Park is Black Shoals Park, a  650 acres reservoir and recreational facility, featuring the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial. Reflect on the sacrifices of veterans and their families involved in 20th century wars to current deployments. South of Exit 82, The Monastery of the Holy Spirit is a beautiful and tranquil backdrop for Cistercian monks who have made their home in Conyers for over sixty-eight years. Experience the new $6.5 million Monastic Heritage Center, a 17,000 square foot innovative complex featuring Visitors Center, Museum, Bonsai Garden, Abbey Store, and Café. Close by, visit Panola Mountain State Park, Georgia’s First Conservation Park.
