Surrounded by cotton fields, Rutledge's historic district, only 1/2 block
square, is virtually unchanged since the heyday of the railroad.
Tucked less than three miles from I-20, the city of Rutledge, founded in
1871, offers quaint shops. interesting restaurant and outdoor
entertainment all within an easy walk of the town park. Rutledge is proud
to be the home of the Annual Sunflower Festival.
Antique Shops include The Barn Raising, D'Antiques and
J&J Fleas & Antiques.
The Red Doors Studio. a working studio, a famous for hand-painted
floor cloths also offers custom picture framing.
Yesterdays Cafe' is an historic pharmacy boasting a photographic
history of Rutledge. enjoy wonderful food served with southern
hospitality.
The Caboose, the last railroad car of Rutledge, offers deli-style
sandwiches, homemade root beer, fudge, and ice cream. 706-557-9021
Rutledge Hardware, featured in Smithsonian magazine, is a vintage
shop serving the hardware and gardening needs of the town as well as
providing a trip back in time.
The
Rutledge Inn, a bed and breakfast, located in town, was built as a
farmhouse in the 1850's. The inn still holds its southern charm.

Hard Labor Creek State Park, Georgia's largest state park, is open
for camping, golf, fishing, hiking, swimming and horseback riding.
